Trusting your Doctor?
I am writing today about a discussion I had yesterday with a lady that also has been diagnosed by a very competent Lyme Doctor. She brought up a very good point for me. I don't think she knows this. She was saying how she had chose one doctor and found she would be more comfortable with another. This I find is very important in trying to get answers for any illness. You need to be comfortable with your doctor and be able to work with that doctor. She was also very disappointed that our local mainstream doctors know very little about Lyme disease and many mainstream doctors will laugh at you for bringing it up. The problem is, IN MY OPINION their hands are tied. Mainstream has to do what the CDC says or the insurance industry will not cover the cost. There for, us lyme sufferers end up fitting the bill for much of our medical needs. This lady brought up a popular line:
" They won't get it, until they get it. " I sooner think that when our political leaders and enough Lyme infected work force are diagnosed and suffering with this disease, there may be something done. I also feel that for every diagnosed lymee out there, there is 20 more searching for answers that could be cured with a round of about 6 weeks of meds to get ahead of this disease. Penna. just pretended to tackle the lyme issue by saying they have updated the rules for diagnosing and medicating for lyme. When 1 or three days is a joke and they are just putting this sleeping giant to sleep so it will come back out of control. I went through this for many years as I was chasing answers.
This is a dreadful disease with a very life long recovery. Unless the community starts taking this seriously, It will only get worse. You can help by spraying your children when going out for hikes with Deat spray or there are sprays for your clothes that you can spray and the tic will be dead before it gets up the leg.
